What is the process of Egg donation IVF?
The treatment involves placing the donor on a course of fertility drugs(Gonadotrophins and GNRH antagonists or GNRH agonists depending on the protocol)to stimulate her ovaries to produce many eggs.
The recipient woman at the same time takes hormones(estrogen and progesterone)because the lining of the uterus(endometrium) must be prepared to receive the embryos. The development of the endometrium must be perfectly synchronised with the donor’s stimulation.
After the oocyte retrieval we fertilze the eggs with partner’s sperm and then we transfer the embryos to the recipient’s uterus at the blastocyst stage.
If we have good quality embryos after the embryo transfer we can freeze them and transfer them in another cycle if the first cycle is succesful and you want another child or if the first cycle has failed. The cost is significantly lower and our aim in our clinic is every couple to have frozen embryos .
